About this Project

The client was captivated by the idea of a barn-style home, believing it would seamlessly blend into the equestrian farm-style atmosphere of Kirtlington Park. His vision was inspired by his observation of the reconstruction process at number 56 within the same estate, a project that we had the privilege of overseeing. The client’s enthusiasm for this architectural style, combined with his investment in customising the property, truly reflects his passion for creating a unique and well-suited residence in this picturesque community. The new owner of this property is happy for us to bring clients to view this beautiful property.

Project Challenges

The original architect, unfortunately, lacked the necessary detail and vision required for the project. With the existing house already demolished, we found ourselves in need of more comprehensive construction details, as none were provided initially. Unwilling to proceed blindly, we sought the expertise of a new, younger architect, Darryl Duffield. Darryl stepped in and adeptly delivered the finer details, ensuring the project could move forward with precision and confidence.

What Made It Special

The essential components for a successful rebuild of that magnitude included an experienced contractor, a skilled engineer, and a visionary architect, all supported by a trusting and appreciative client who recognised the team’s efforts and creativity. It was also beneficial that the client had sufficient funds to execute the project properly. Although the roof construction appeared simple, it presented challenges due to the importance of perfecting the design from the start. In the end, the result was nothing short of perfection.
